Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Our school had the honor of being present at the ribbon cutting ceremony of the first of 2 new Michael Jordan Family Clinics and got to see THE Michael Jordan, himself!

Each heart is an individually painted canvas created by some of our students using their own tints of red and green. This masterpiece is displayed proudly in the lobby of the new Michael Jordan Family Clinic. Thanks to Mr. Rick, our art teacher and to all the participating students for this beautiful piece.

Special Olympics

Our sharks had a blast at the NHCS Special Olympics Spring Games back in April!

NC Aquarium

Our 1st grade sharks took a trip to the Fort Fisher Aquarium to learn about their environment and met many of their fellow aquatic friends, discovering alligators, snakes, sea jellies, sea turtles, other sharks, and an ocean of fish.

African American Read-in

Our annual read-in brings community members into our school to read selected children's books whose authors/illustrators are African American. Through these stories,  students can find themselves in the characters which is important for cultural representation.

NC Jazz Assembly

Some well-known Jazz musicians were here for the annual NC Jazz Festival and performed for us in a school-wide assembly. They played musical pieces focused on Louis Armstrong and got our students and staff scatting to the beat!

Students standing holding hands together raised in the air looking at a Rosa Park poster that says, %22Equality%22

Masonboro Island

5th Graders took their annual trip to Masonboro Island to explore the diverse ecosystems with activities that included crabbing, investigating the life found in a salt marsh and exploring one of the best shelling beaches in our state.
