Black History Month

In February, we celebrate the contributions and achievements that African Americans have made throughout our history.

African American Read-in

Our annual read-in brings community members into our school to read selected children's books whose authors/illustrators are African American. Through these stories,  students can find themselves in the characters which is important for cultural representation.

NC Jazz Assembly

Some well-known Jazz musicians were here for the annual NC Jazz Festival and performed for us in a school-wide assembly. They played musical pieces focused on Louis Armstrong and got our students and staff scatting to the beat!

Thalian Hall

First and Second Grade enjoyed their trip to historic Thalian Hall to watch an interactive theatre performance of Bug Story.

Students standing holding hands together raised in the air looking at a Rosa Park poster that says, %22Equality%22

Community Readers

Our first grade classes have a volunteer from the community read to their students once a month to share the joy of reading.  Thank you to our community volunteers!

Masonboro Island

5th Graders took their annual trip to Masonboro Island to explore the diverse ecosystems with activities that included crabbing, investigating the life found in a salt marsh and exploring one of the best shelling beaches in our state.
