Transportation

No transportation changes will be allowed verbally by phone or from a student. Any changes should be made in writing. The note should include:

Child's First and Last name
Details of change and effective date(s)
Parent Signature

Please be sure to either write a note for each child's classroom teacher or include ALL siblings the change effects in your note if this scenario applies. We will not assume that the change applies to their sibling(s) if not written.

Examples:

Jane Doe needs to be a car rider the week of Sept 6-10 instead of a van rider.
John and Jane Doe will begin riding Brigade on Fridays only beginning Sept 2.

Early Checkout

Van Riders

There are several different after-school daycares that pick up about 1/4 of our students each day! Please respect and follow the expectations below to help keep our students safe and for dismissal to run smoothly!

This is considered to be their PRIMARY afternoon transportation unless noted differently! We understand schedules change, but written notification is still needed to know when to expect or not to expect a child.

Examples:

If a child initially rides Tuesdays and Thursdays only and then all of a sudden needs to ride on a Wednesday, we need to know.
If a child rides Monday-Thursday only and then needs to ride on a Friday, we need to know.
If the child is switching daycares, we need to know.

Transportation changes MUST be in writing. If you have more than one child, notification should be given to EACH of their teachers. Sometimes the change applies to one sibling and not the other, please be VERY clear on the change in your note and include the effective date(s). This also includes if you’re aware of unexpected daycare closings or of a suspension from daycare.

It is your responsibility to notify both the school and the daycare when your child is not going to be riding. Sometimes your child is the only one that the daycare picks up and they end up making an unnecessary trip here. You may even incur charges for not notifying the daycare.

Car Riders

Traffic Direction: Please respect the traffic pattern and take Tennessee Ave. or other parallel roads around the school to get in the car line for drop-off and pick-up. There are signs indicating NO U-Turns and doing so risk the safety of staff, other families and neighborhood residents coming through. An SRO will be present in assisting that this expectation is followed.

Tardy: It is the expectation that parents get out of their vehicle and sign their child(ren) in if they are late. The tardy bell rings at 7:40am!

Dismissal: Parents/Guardians need to remain in their vehicles and follow the traffic pattern, having their child(ren)'s name card visible to staff so that they may begin calling them from the school building. If you do not have signage, please inform a staff member that is on duty.

Bus Riders

All students must have a bus assignment before being allowed on a bus. The request must be put in by the school data manager.

Please use the county's Bus Tracking App (Edulog) for the location and expected arrival time of your child's bus to help.

Afternoon Bus Drop-off for K-2 Students - If an adult is not present at the stop for a child in grades K-2, the child will be taken back to the school and you'll have to come pick them up here. If you want to allow your child to get off the bus without an adult present, you'll need to fill out a form.
